Showcasing Design Impact within the Bras Basah.Bugis district during SDW 2023

Bras Basah.Bugis district is Singapore’s Arts and Heritage District, and where the National Design Centre, Selegie Arts Centre and LASALLE College of the Arts call home. Many design studios, boutiques and stores can also be found in the district.

BLACK was commissioned by DesignSingapore Council to activate the district during Singapore Design Week 2023 and encourage visitors to travel between key locations within the district and visit the key exhibitions.

A neon green Starburst was designed to represent the impact of design and was placed at locations in the district, creating a unified identity and establish the presence of the Design District during the festival. Art installations at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and Basheer Graphics caught the attention visitors, while district maps and starburst stickers can be found in selected retail stores and cafés within the district.

An extension of the district activation “Friday Late” was organised as mini-launch parties for the key exhibitions within the district. Each exhibition had opened till 11pm on Friday, 22 September, and featured a unique programme and F&B offering based on their core theme and approach. Visitors of the mini-launch party could take part in the programmes offered, and redeem free offerings through different ways.
